In response to the recent statewide emergency declared by Governor Walz due to severe flooding, the Adventist Community Services Disaster Relief (ACS DR) team has swiftly taken action to provide much-needed assistance. Les Morrison, our dedicated director for ACS DR, visited the office two weeks ago to discuss the urgent needs of the affected communities. Les has been instrumental in leading our disaster relief efforts, particularly in Minnesota, where ACS DR has built a strong reputation for effective and compassionate service.
With the township of Waterville in La Sueur County being heavily impacted, Les and his team of volunteers have established a distribution warehouse to serve the local residents. In just a short period, they have already provided aid to over 30 individuals and families. Their efforts have been recognized in the media, highlighting the significant and lasting impact ACS DR has in the community.
Thanks to the generous support and collaboration from the Faribault, Le Center, and Brainerd Churches, the warehouse has been well-stocked with essential supplies. However, the need for donations and volunteers remains critical. ACS DR is specifically seeking donations of box fans, water, and bleach to help mitigate the effects of the flooding. Volunteers are also needed to assist in the distribution warehouse, with shifts available Monday through Friday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., and Saturday to Sunday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Those interested in volunteering can contact Les Morrison directly at 612-296-2716.
For a glimpse into the vital work being done at the distribution center, you can watch a short video and view photos provided by Les. Additionally, you can stay updated on the situation in Waterville through a recent news clip available here.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Les Morrison and his team for their unwavering commitment and tireless efforts. Their work ensures that the impact of ACS DR is felt not just now, but for years to come.
